Breaking News: Trump selects Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate

On the first day of the Republican Convention, Donald Trump has selected Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R), age 39, as his vice presidential running mate.

Vance was once a fierce critic of Trump and in 2010, even publicly referred to him as "America's Hitler." (Those anti-Trump writings and sound clips will be on endless loop once the Lincoln Project gets to grinding this Fall).

But Vance has fallen in line with the Trump wing of the GOP in the years since and is now hardcore MAGA, meaning, he supports Project '25 and the culture wars against racial and religious minorities, the LGBTQ communities, and is much farther to the right of Trump in his opposition to abortion rights.

Curiously, on a weekend when Republicans all of a sudden “got good religion” and "claimed" to want to "turn down the temperatures of political rhetoric," Vance turned it all the way up regarding Saturday's alleged assassination attempt by assigning fault to the Biden administration! Vance Tweeted: "The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”

Former President Trump, deep in the reddest parts of Pennsylvania, was shot at by a 20-year old Republican—not some disgruntled Democrat…

Nonsense! Lest we forget that the deceased shooter was a registered Republican!

Lest we also forget that Vance, towing the mendacious Trump line that the 2020 election was stolen, has repeatedly stated that if he had been Vice President in 2020, that he would have done what then VP Mike Pence (rightfully) refused to do, which was support illegal "alternative" slates of electors in states that Biden lawfully won, like Georgia.

For these and myriad other reasons, I will be voting for the Biden-Harris ticket this fall—and Democrats up and down ballot—to preserve, protect, and defend America's increasingly fragile democracy. Join me!
