Dr. Chris Jones, a nuclear physicist, pastor, and Democratic candidate to replace outgoing Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R), is steadily gaining momentum in this, his first political race! I sat down recently with Jones, a fellow Morehouse Man and friend for nearly two decades, and learned more about his vision for Arkansas in an interview that will air in the Season 2 opener of Front & Center w/Chuck Hobbs on the Greater Works Network later this summer.
In an article published earlier today, MSNBC editorial writer Hayes Brown captures the essence of many politicos who assumed that Republican Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a former spokesperson for fmr. President Donald Trump, would be a shoe-in to fill the gubernatorial seat that her father, Mike Huckabee, once held—until Jones emerged to challenge! Writes Brown, “Chris Jones announced his candidacy for governor June 15. As I learned in his campaign’s announcement video, he is an actual nuclear physicist and an ordained minister as of 2017. He went to Morehouse College on a NASA scholarship and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for graduate school. And now he’s running to replace the term-limited Gov. Asa Hutchinson as leader of the state his family has lived in for eight generations now.”
