Seven years ago, barely a month after I was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Commentary for my columns in The Hill, my Facebook page was suspended for 30 days for allegedly “violating Community Standards” due to one of my daily political posts that call out systemic racism around the globe.

Around the same time, a brand new editor at The Hill, let's just call him “Mr. Charlie,” didn't take all that kindly to my article pitches, many of which were highly critical of the new Trump administration and its proposed travel ban on Muslims, among other issues impacting historically disadvantaged demographic groups.
Frustrated, I had a long chat with Dr. Ann Wead Kimbrough, my friend/mentor who is the former Dean of the Florida A&M University School of Journalism and Graphic Communications, and she told me straight out to start my OWN news site so that I could call my own editorial shots.
A few days later, my friend (and fellow journalist) Peter McKay and I were chatting and he mentioned that his company could design the website; a few weeks later, the original site was ready to go live—which it did on the morning of March 23rd—and I’ve been running off at the Android press ever since!
As I often remind, I thank EACH of you for subscribing to my blog—and for doing your part to support my independent (and unapologetically Black) perspectives on the important issues of our age; I assure you, the best is yet to come!
