My heart filled with pride this past weekend as my late father, Lt. Colonel Charles Hobbs, was inducted into the Florida A&M University Sports Hall of Fame in the prelude to FAMU’s 24-6 victory over the Southern University Jaguars.
Charles Sr., a standout right guard and middle linebacker for the Rattlers from 1958-62, was a member of two national championship teams (1959 and 1961)— squads that were filled with eventual NFL stars like Curtis Miranda, Walter Highsmith, Hewritt Dixon, Clarence Childs, David Daniels, Al Denson, and 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist and NFL Hall of Fame member, Robert “Bullet Bob” Hayes!
On behalf of the Hobbs family, I extend my sincerest thanks to the FAMU Sports Hall of Fame committee for recognizing our patriarch’s career as a Rattler student-athlete—and for hosting an amazing weekend on the “Highest of Seven Hills” in Tallahassee!
Very nice!
This is wonderful!! Congratulations brother.
