Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) annoys me more than most politicians primarily because, to borrow a statement that he made about his then presidential rival Donald Trump in 2016, I deem him to be a "sniveling coward."
Late last month, Cruz praised the Russian military (while disparaging our own) due to a recruitment video of a young woman serving in the Army who was raised by two mothers. Cruz, long a foe of the LGBTQ community, Tweeted that the “woke media" was trying to "turn the U.S. military into “pansies.” "Pansy" is an age old slur against gay men that the Harvard Law educated Cruz knew better than to use, but he did so anyway because he knew that it would entertain his supporters.
Cruz has also been critical of Defense Secretary (and former Army General) Lloyd Austin's push for diversity in the military, one that in recent years has included the removal of Nazi and Confederate symbols from among the ranks, and a call to rename military forts named for Confederate generals during the Jim Crow era just as the push for Black civil rights began to expand.
Cruz, like Florida Gov. Ron Desantis, Sen. Rick Scott, and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, is simply seeking to stir the pot among a Republican base that would fail a basic test of known American historical facts—let alone the hidden facts about white atroricities against Blacks and other minority groups from the very first days of the Republic. A base that is filled with computer keyboard patriots who have never fired a single shot in combat, but who just love to shoot their mouths off and fire their fingers to opine about who should serve, who should lead, and who those who serve and lead should become intimately involved. These cyber tough guys and gals are offended not just by the thoughts of the LGBTQ community serving honorably in the military, but also by a Black Defense Secretary in Austin who defends their rights to serve free from discrimination based upon their sexual orientation and preferences.
Thus the political face of this meme warrior class is none other than the Cowardly Cruz, a man who allowed his former presidential rival, Donald Trump, to call his wife Heidi "ugly" while also accusing his father of having plotted to kill former President John F. Kennedy.
Did tough guy Cruz rush over on the GOP debate stage to defend his family's honor like most men, including my gay male friends, would have done? Nope, he just stood there debate after debate with a smug look on his face, praying that his tormentor would hush instead of standing up like a real man and making him hush!
Now, what Cruz did do in response to Mr. Trump back then was straight out of the sniveling coward's playbook, which was to make a tough guy statement with no real force behind it. He said: "I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father. ... that pledge (to support the 2016 Republican nominee) was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I'm going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say, 'thank you very much for maligning my wife and my father.'"
Yeah, ok, but that's exactly what Cruz did—he transmogrified right before our eyes into a “servile puppy dog” that licked the designer shoes of Mr. Trump for four full years. Who can forget the op/ed that a gleeful Cruz wrote in 2018 praising his former tormentor, stating: "President Trump is a flash-bang grenade thrown into Washington by the forgotten men and women of America. The fact that his first year as Commander in Chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature." Cruz added, "President Trump is doing what he was elected to do: disrupt the status quo. That scares the heck out of those who have controlled Washington for decades, but for millions of Americans, their confusion is great fun to watch."
Oh my, how far Lyin’ Ted the tough talker fell from refusing to endorse Trump at the 2016 Convention, to cheering him on, donning his lawyer cap and defending him during two impeachment processes, and pushing the mendacity that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump by Democrats, this despite Republican gains across the country (including Lyin’ Ted's own razor thin victory over Democrat Beto O'Rourke).
Lest we also forget that earlier this year, while Texans suffered from a brutal blizzard that left millions of its citizens without power during the worst pandemic in a century, Cruz (photo below) caught a flight to Mexico to ride out the cold wave. But because he's Lyin’ Ted, he lied yet again to the media and claimed that he only was escorting his family to safety.
Cognizant of his history, that Cruz would disparage men and women in arms who are homosexual or opposed to the symbols of white supremacy comes as no surprise because Cruz so desperately wants to be loved by those hypocritical "Christian" conservatives who routinely break all of the Ten Commandments and shun all of Christ's teachings about love and grace, all the while forcing their own so-called values upon others.
While hypocritical, the beauty is that far more Americans see through the lies that Cruz and his ilk foster regarding their favorite slang (mis)appropriation, "wokeness," as white conservatives and wanna-be white conservatives like Cruz and Marco Rubio carry the banner of white victimhood with their caramel brown hands into the public square. But as I often write to remind, whites have never been the victims of systemic discrimination in America. Seriously, if your immediate forebears didn't have a whole civil war and multiple constitutional amendments ratified—and legal cases litigated—just to be deemed full citizens of this country, methinks you should stop the fake tears and false cries of victimhood. But they won't because these ones very survival as politicians depends upon pretending that they are the protectors of the "real" America, one that is decidedly white, allegedly Christian, and one that continues to oppress so many based upon how they look, which God they pray to, and who they love.

Cruz is more loathsome than the slime at the bottom of my shoe. I don’t have enough adjectives to describe how much I detest him.
