After two full weeks of trial in the United States District Court in Tallahassee, and three days of jury deliberations, it seems as if a decision could be near in the highly publicized alleged corruption case of former Florida Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum, and his chief campaign strategist and public relations guru Sharon Lettman-Hicks. Yesterday, the 12 person jury told United States District Judge Allen Winsor that they had reached a verdict on count one that solely alleges that the former Tallahassee Mayor was untruthful to the FBI, but were deadlocked on the remaining alleged fraud counts against both Gillum and Mrs. Lettman-Hicks. Earlier today, the jury asked Judge Winsor to provide them a complete set of Discovery documents that numbers in the tens of thousands, post it notes, and highlighters as they labor well into what is now the fourth day of deliberations.
Full Disclosure: Both Lettman-Hicks and Gillum are longtime friends of mine, thus, my sincerest prayers are with them, their families, and their lawyers today—and always!
Prayers that they will be found not guilty on all counts!
Lengthy jury deliberations may end up in a hung jury. And I don't think the fed will spend the resources on a retrial. They have bigger fish to fry. Just my opinion.
