I can just hear that Tallahassee Southern drawl as you paint this picture. Many lessons learned. Great story

Brother Chuck, the way you tell the story just immerses the reader into the Band Room right there with you. But Lawd, I don't want any of that whooping Mr. Gibson gave you. Geesh!

Very graphic description of a hard lesson! George Gibson (Gip) took a class with me and my sister, Sonya. I was sorry to hear of his passing some years ago as we had become good friends. As you know, if that had happened now, he would have permanently lost his job in the classroom.

love this one. I tell my kids about the corporal punishment days and they are in disbelief. The surprising thing is that they sometimes think it wouldn't be an idea to bring it back. Of course they don't think for themselves, but for others around them that they've been witness to of shenanigans. I remember getting middle school swats from the principal, but when I explained what happened (I was defending myself from getting bullied), he gave me the swats just loud enough to be heard outside. Didn't sting at all.
