I think the problem with joe is that he is still in the senate with his old pals and thinks they are going to play the old "gentlemen's" way. I think he just doesn't get it that they are going for blood and this is a new game. He is living in the past.
With all that has happened on the political landscape since 2020, it is disappointing to see how the party of the Blue has failed to capitalize on the mistakes of the Red. I have questioned what a 2024 presidential race would be like for all of the points that you have addressed. Giv. Newsome does sound like a solid pick to redirect those efforts to counteract some of the Republican thwartings.
Gov Newsome is probably the best placed somewhat progressive Democrat. It won't matter if Democrats are still outnumbered in Congress in the fall.
