While seeing posts and comments about this young man and his activities, I thought of William Whyte’s book “Street Corner Society.” I have yet to read it, but it explores the career advancement of inner-city youth and their ability (or inability) to break ties with negative influences in their communities. This book may not depict Ja Morant’s life, but there are parallels. I also saw where someone posted that his friends and family fail to note that for every suspension or, heaven forbid, firing, they will lose the benefit of the support he provides them. They have a vested interest in keeping him out of trouble.

I want to make sure that I read that book. It sounds interesting, classmate!
