I always tell people the most dangerous night of the week isn’t Friday or Saturday. It’s whatever day the school board meets in your community.

I try to imagine what it would be like to go to school under these faux Chritian overlords, especially without strong parental guidance. I would likely have been even more messed up than i was. My deepest hope is for kids to question, be curious, and not blindly accept!

Great piece, Hobbs! While I did not grow up in a super religious home, I do know that growing up in a predominately Black community (Gadsden County), you either were Christian or expected to be.... and I became what I was expected to be. Although, I now consider myself to be more spiritual than religious. I have much concern about force-feeding any religion to children in any capacity and what these politicians are imposing is not only totally self-serving and hypocritical, it is forced assimilation. That is not the government’s job…that is not freedom. Growing up I was taught that every religion outside of Christianity was “not of God”….”not right” Thank goodness for independent thought and a college education. It was in college that I was taught about other religions and was able to compare and contrast. It was then that I learned that most religions were created one from the other…taking some from this one to create a new one. It is this kind of variety and expansion in education that affords freedom of choice.
