Good read. Just imagine, it did not reach Richmond, VA until April of 1865!!
And that's like, a couple of counties over from Appomattox 😢
One would think it would have arrived MUCH sooner. Just a tip of the hat on how much they "really" wanted us to know.
Thank you for pointing out the status of the border states - with over 400k enslaved people who remained in bondage! Lincoln, the "Great Emancipator" was more concern about more Southern states succeeding than freeing every man, woman, and child.
