This is the first time I am reading of this, and I’m in Boston. Sadly, the city does have strong and loud pockets of “Know-Nothings” who find grievances every place they look. Mayor Wu’s (the first woman and Asian to lead Boston) Facebook page is constantly attacked by Know-Nothings and it’s disturbing, as most of the city supports her.
I could not agree that the school did a disservice by apologizing for the lesson, which placates them and confirms their opinion. How are people supposed to push back when they are not supported?
Intended to open discussion but opened up white wounds of ignorance. What are the kids learning from this? To win you just have to browbeat others' perspectives, not discuss 😠
